在壯觀美麗卻又危機四伏的南極冰原上，科學考察站中的特殊成員——八隻雪橇犬在救援、運輸等工作中顯然占據著重要的地位，別人或許在需要時才會想起它們，但在生存專家傑里的眼中，它們是他生命中不可貨缺的一部分，傑里這樣稱乎它們—「孩子們」
